2 mom's, 3 babies

I have so many freinds expecting their first child(s) between now & May! It is so exciting. I have ALWAYS loved babies; friend's babies, stranger's babies, whatever...they always make me smile & I could hold one for hours. Recently, I had the opportunity to celebrate my cousin, Lauren, and my friend, Sarah, by throwing them a shower for Eve - Lauren's baby girl due end of April-ish, and Lily & Jackson - Sarah's TWINS due end of May-ish.

Here are some pictures - stolen from them, obviously, sice I never snap any photos. They have better cameras anyway. LAUREN'S SHOWER IN FEBRUARY at the home of steve & jan davis SARAH'S SHOWER IN MARCH at richland country club

week of the werid

Last week was just a really weird week for me.

It started with my diagnosis of belpharitis. My eyes started KILLING me the early part of last week. I went to the eye doc and that is what he told me I had. I didn't even know there was such a thing as belpharitis; much less, think that I would ever contact it. Basically, it's a totally icky and gross condition with my eye lids that caused my eyes to be the source of A LOT of pain for several days. I've never really had anything effect my eyes before but man, it is not fun. The plus side was it gave me an excuse to go make-up free for a week (I hate wearing makeup). I am finally on the mend, and go back to the eye dr. tomorrow for a check-up and new, bacteria-free contacts. Bliss. But ask yourself honestly - who have you ever known to get belpharitis? Leave it to me.

Next - I received a package from Macy's last Thursday when I got home from work. Hmmm... I haven't ordered anything from Macy's? But maybe someone is sending me a happy. Or a Get Well Soon gift for my eye disease. I opened it up & it is a set of 8 white wine glasses with a card: "Congratulations, sorry I couldn't be there. Love, Aunt Jan." I have no Aunt Jan. I am not getting married. At least, not that I know of. The package was addressed to me, with all the correct information. Strange. I don't even have an explanation for this.

Moving along...

Saturday, I drove out to Lebanon with my friend Rachel to get fitted for my bridesmaids dress - I am in her wedding in September. We go in to a store that is divided up in to three sections...bridesmaids dresses, prom dresses & wedding dresses. Since we had to go pick up her shoes and accessories, we went to the "brides" part of the store. I am sitting down waiting on the attendant to get some paper work and her measuring tape, and out of the dressing room walks...who other than...my ex's ex. His high school girlfriend - the one before me. Talk about awkward. I immediately got weird. I didn't know WHAT to do. It would have been one thing if I would have seen her in, like, Target. I would have spoken. But there she was, having her "moment" with her family, mom crying, etc. etc. etc. It just wasn't the time or place. Thankfully, somehow or another, we avoided each other. I just could not believe that, of all places, of all times & days, THAT is where I see her.

Let's hope this week is a little less awkward.

wednesday randoms

I'm still alive. I went on my first spring break since college, and it was fantastic. Heavenly. Perfect. This whole week I can't help but daydream about what I was doing this time last week. And then I get depressed.

Anyway...

1. Chocolate covered bananas from Trader Joe's are ligit.

2. I am totally and completely immersed in American Idol - I have like 4 favorites. I love that show, and am enjoying the judges a lot more than I thought I would. Botox and facelifts aside, Steven Tyler is just cool.

3. I speant 7 days in the Caymans and came back with two (terrible) pictures. Taken on the last day. With my cell phone.

4. I want at shellac manicure to see what all the fuss is about.

wednesday randoms

1. The Oscar's were boring, but I still watched them until the end. My best-dressed goes to Gwyneth Paltrow. I've also decided that Halle Berry has zero flaws. Zero.

2. Mad love to Todd, Laing's husband, who created and installed this new background for me on my blog. He is a computer whiz.

3. I have the same sentiments about Charlie Sheen as I did about Michael Jackson - I'm so over it. I wish the media would stop giving him the attention he is asking for.

4. I'm getting ready to be off work for 5 whole days, which I have not done in three years. It will take me all next week to prepare for it. But the reward will be sweet!

5. Easter candy is out in full force!!! Love love love the Cadbury candy eggs.

6. Senior Citizen Day at Kroger is a cluster. I love old people, but holy motorized grocery carts - never go to Kroger on Wednesday, unless you have 3 extra hours in your day to waste.

friendly friday tuesday

Background: Laing and I went to school together at FRA for 13 years; we became really close probably around the 4th grade. She was the friend I always took on my family vacations when we would drive 12 hours to the beach! Laing started college at Lipscomb and finished up at Belmont - it was so great knowing that whenever I came in from Birmingham, she was always in town! I was the maid of honor in her wedding when she married Todd in October of 2008, and she is still one of my very best friends.

Celebrating her because: Since high school, we have had a running joke with the date March 1st. It always seems that there is something major happening on March 1st every single year. And so today, March 1st, I celebrate Laing!

Five things I love about Laing:
1. She would literally drop everything for me if I needed her to - she is so dependable.
2. Laing is probably one of the only friends I have that has, at one time or another, met every member of my dysfunctional family.
3. Her husband is one of my favorites.
4. She is always up for trying new restaurants with me!
5. I can always turn to Laing when I have questions about finances, taxes, or the like. She is very business-savvy!

Five things that Laing loves:
1. I love to shop
2. I love nutella
3. I love my pups, Alfie and Barley
4. I have 3 jobs and love what I do
5. I guess I should declare my love for my husband!

friendly friday

Background: Hunter & I met during high school when he started coming to our youth group on a regular basis; his grandparents attended the church I grew up in. Through Wednesday and Sunday church, summer mission trips and youth retreats, our friendship grew in high school and remained close during and after his time at Rhodes as well.

Celebrating him because: I picked him as Mr. February because he was my first kiss, on Valentine's Day, after he decorated my car with roses and shaving cream. Insert "awwww" here. Cheesy, but totally cute at the same time.

Five things I love about Hunter:
1. He knows everything there is to know about every sport known to man.
2. He was my first kiss, and no matter who it was with or when it was, that is always memorable for a girl.
3. We dated each other for a hot minute and lived to tell about it.
4. He once came in to my house (via my dad) when I was not home, switched out all of my drawers, short-sheeted my bed and moved my stuff around as a mean, albeit funny, practical joke.
5. I think he's gone out with well over half of my friends at one point or another during the course of our friendship.

Five things that Hunter loves (these are more facts):
1. I'm a die hard Vanderbilt basketball fan. I've been to at least one game every season for the last 22 years.
2. I've never had a dog.
3. I can't drive a stick shift.
4. I like planning, but enjoy being spontaneous.
5. I've been on a moose hunt.
